Ethernet Cable

First : Explain the purpose of the ethernet cable.

The purpose of a ethernet cable is to connect to the internet.

Second: Materials needed

  • Network Cable

  • Two RJ 45 jacks

  • Cable Pliers

This is the process for creating an ethernet cord:

  1. Cut your wire to the desired length.

  2. Strip the blue tubing.

  3. Untwist colored wires and make them straight.

  4. Place colors in correct order: Light Orange, Dark Orange, Light Green, Dark Blue, Light Blue, Dark Green, Light Brown, Dark Brown.

  5. Cut wires evenly.

  6. Hold jack with clip down, place wires inside. The copper in the jack must be meeting with the copper in the other wires.

  7. Each wire has its own groove in the jack.

  8. When finished, stick jack in the pliers and clamp down to PERMINATELY attach it.

  9. Then redo whole process to other side of cable.

To test it, you plug it into the computer and a ethernet jack and see if you get a connection.

I had a really hard time building mine. It took me 8 dozen times to get it right. Now that i have constructed a correct cord, I would take more time aligning the cords in the correct colors so I only have to do it once.

Some words of encouragement, Don't get frustrated and make sure you put all your effort into getting the colors in the correct order.

Benifits of a Blog

Benifits of a Blog:

  • They allow many users to acess programs and data at the same time.

  • They allow users to share peripheral devices, such as printers and scanners.

  • They make personal communications easier.

  • They make it easy for users and adminstrators to back up imortant data files.

Differences between WANs and LANs:

A LAN (Local Area Network) is a network of computers that are relatively near each other and are connected in a way that enables them to communicate (by a cable, an infrared link, or a small wireless device.) A WAN (Wide Area Network) is two or more LANs connected together, generally across wide geographical area.

Identify at least three common network topologies. Insert an image from the web of each.

HYBRID

Four examples of network operation system software.

  • Novell NetWare

  • Microsoft Windows NT Server

  • Microsoft Windows 2000

  • Microsoft XP

In a client/server network, individual computers share the processing and storage workload with a central server. in a peer-to-peer network, all nodes on the network have equal relationships to all others, and all have simialr types of software that support the sharing of resources.

Purpose of a Blog

Blogs are created to easily communicate and give information to anybody. Blogs can be good things for they are easy ways to access information or news from certain people. However, the can be as equally dangerous if you put out personal information. Blogs are only as safe as you make it. If you put no personal information like ASL on your blog, then yes it is safe. If you have personal information on your blog, then no it's probably not very safe.

Blogs can be used as an educational tool. Blogs are an easy way to get notes, news, and other information useful to students. It's also a great communication tool, so other students can help one another out.
